Busy Sewing

The Lord created the earth in seven days but it took me eight long hard extra hard days, two lost needles, one broken needle threader, untieing many countless knots, and think I now am classified nearly blind to finish these two pillow cases for my friend Clara.  Clara turned 90 this last weekend and a week ago I started these pillow cases for her.  Well I made it just in time and got them done.  What do you think?

Gift Bag

This is the gift bag that I made to match the pillow cases.  I tried to make the DSP to match the cross stitching on the pillow cases by putting it through a textured plate.  I love doing tags and though these made a great combo.  I hate to wrap presents and just love the idea of gift bags these are so ease to make and much more fun to do.  Do you like?

Stephanie's Table Top

Now this is my daughter Stephanie's table top that I should of made her six years ago but never go around to doing.  She has a large collection of light houses in her home so that was my idea for it.  The top was all done in piece work and individual rows.  The red vertical blocks are individual vertical rectangle squares added  in between each block.  The top was machine sewn together but all of the quilting was all done by hand.  The fishes were appliqued ironed on then blanked stitched with embroidery floss.

Busy sewing

The Lord created everything in seven days well it took me eight long and hard days to make these pillow cases for my friend Clara as a 90th birthday present this past weekend.  After two lost needles, one broken needle treader, many minutes of trying to find the mini hole, coming to the conclusion that I must be close to blind I got them done.  Here is my final project. (before turning sixty it was so much easier to embroider!)

Both pillow sets and lace edging.

Gift bag to hold pillow cases in.

This is the gift bag that I created to hold Clara's gift in.  The designer paper that I used had roses on it and I ran it through the textured plate and it came out looking like counted cross stitch material to match the pillow cases I made.  I just love how stampin up matched other everyday things all around our regular life. What do you think?  I hate to wrap a gift but love to do these gift bags they are so fun to make and mush easier to do.

Now I will show you another long lost project I owned my daughter Stephanie five years ago but never got around to doing.  I made her sisters each a table top quilted tablecloth but never got around to doing hers.  I had bought the material but just never sat down to do it.  Well finally finished it and gave it to her on her birthday this year along with other birthday presents.  Here it is.

 Full Table Top

Stephanie has a lighthouse collection in her home so that was my theme for my table top.  I sewed the top by machine but all the quilting was done by hand.  Each square has hand quilting inside it even on the red and around the fish.  The long red row are rectangle blocks sewn as a row each time to match each row.

Backside

Well what do you think?  This took me several months to do but it was very hard to give up when I was done.  When finished it fit the top of my queen size be with no overhang.  I would of not taken much to turn it into a quilt but had no more red material left.  Stamping is still my hoby but cannot give up my sewing either.
